4th st. food coop sells various bar soaps without being wrapped in plastic.
they have ones made with organic, and conventional vegetable oils.
negligible price difference from the previously selected 365 brand bar soap,
and i think it's lasting longer.
images and details to come.

bar soap
update: 4th street food coop carries organic bar soaps without being wrapped in plastic, made by vermont soaps.
of all bar soap options at the bowery whole body / whole foods in nyc,
the natural frugal bar soap decision is:
365 everyday value vegetable glycerin soap
price at the bowery whole body / whole foods in nyc:
$1.49 / 4oz = $0.37/oz
ingredients: saponified coconut and/or palm oil, vegetable glycerin
so basic, easy, natural, and functional.
no sls, edta, preservatives, any weird stuff.
not organic though :(
even things not being eaten should be organic, for sustainable farming, no weird fertilizers, etc.
so many bar soaps out there loaded with all sorts of chemicals,
even ones claiming natural have varying ingredients.
and bar soaps can get really expensive.
a customer mentioned that vegetable glycerin soap washes away really fast.
but this bar soap has lasted just fine if not longer than previous bar soaps i've used.
my 2 roommates shower daily, (i feel it's more natural to shower less than daily)
my soap is somewhat out of the way, but there are splashes that hit it.
